All students with research results and a final paper by early January 2016 may enter but forms are due in Oct.

(All students with research results and a final paper may enter.

February 4, Saturday – Seniors Juniors

Regional JSHS competition at John Jay High School
8am - 4pm – John Jay High School, Cross River NY.
Parents and family members are welcome for the awards ceremony in the afternoon. All participants Must attend the awards ceremony.

Early February – Seniors Juniors & Sophomores (that will be presenting at WESEF)

Paper submission deadline for ISWEEEP and Genius Olympiad competitions

  • Open to all students with a project in the areas of Environment, Ecology, Biodiversity, Energy, Environmental Engineering or related “go Green” topics. Recently, some medical projects have been accepted as well.

Wednesday Feb. 15 – Seniors Juniors & Sophomores (that will be presenting at WESEF)

WESEF Practice night for all YHS-WESEF participants
7pm in the YHS cafeteria
Parents/Alumni/Community members/Teachers wanted as practice judges

March 4, Saturday – Seniors Juniors

WESEF (www.wesef.org)
Sleepy Hollow High School, Route 9 Tarrytown NY.
9:00am – 4:30 pm AND 7:00pm-9:00pm for all students that are presenting their research
Public session 3pm-4:15 pm
Free time for dinner 5pm - 7pm
Awards ceremony 7pm-9pm
Important Note: WESEF 2017 will NOT be a conflict with the SAT

March 7 & 8 (Tues & Wed) – Seniors (that have won a spot at the NY state level from the Feb. 7 comp.)

NY State - JSHS competition at SUNY Albany
8:00am Tuesday – Leave on a bus with other schools headed for Albany.
Return by 4:00pm on Wednesday.

May 31, Wednesday – Seniors Juniors & Sophomores

Yorktown HS Science Research Symposium
6pm in the YHS auditorium/cafeteria. All current students must attend and will present their research via PowerPoint or Poster.
Dinner will be served to all students and family members, before the symposium begins.

June 3, Saturday – Seniors Sophomores

Westlake Science Fair - Seniors are judges
1pm-6pm - Westlake High School Cafeteria – Thornwood, NY. Required for Sophomores and Seniors
All current sophomores must present their research via poster.
All current Seniors must be a judge or spend 3-4 hours during finals week for a written, essay based, final exam.
Important Note: This is in the afternoon so it is NOT a conflict with the SAT or SAT subject tests.

June 11-15 – Seniors Juniors & Sophomores (that have won a spot through WESEF or by submittingtheir research paper)

Genius Olympiad Science Fair (www.GeniusOlympiad.org)

  • Open to all students with a project in the areas of Environment, Ecology, Biodiversity, Energy, Environmental Engineering or related “go Green” topics. In addition, some Biological based projects are accepted.
  • Individual and Team (up to 3 students) research projects allowed.
  • Poster-board based competition
  • Students can win a spot to the Genius Olympiad competition through their local ISEF affiliated fair (WESEF) or by sending in their research paper directly (deadline for paper submission entries– mid March).
  • Fair is held in Oswego, NY during Regents week. Regents exams may be taken at Oswego High School as long as your school principal and guidance counselor contact the administration at Oswego High School to register you for your exam beforehand.
