September 19 (Tuesday) – Seniors

Paper submission date for the Siemens Science Competition
(Individual Seniors only or teams. No behavioral projects accepted) https://siemenscompetition.discoveryeducation.com/

 

Mid October – Seniors & Juniors

Online Registration for WR-JSHS: Seniors may do Power Point or Poster, Juniors will do poster only.

November 8 (Wednesday) – Seniors

Recommendations and Transcript submission date for the Regeneron Science Talent Search (Seniors only, Individual projects only) http://www.societyforscience.org/sts

 

November 15 (Wednesday) – Seniors

Final Paper and Application submission date for the Regeneron Science Talent Search (Seniors only, Individual projects only) http://www.societyforscience.org/sts

Paper and forms submission date for the local Westchester & Rockland Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (WR-JSHS) - Seniors may do Power Point or Poster, Juniors will do poster only. Only Power Point winners move on to state level http://www.albany.edu/jshs/wesrocjshs.html

December 19 (Tuesday) – Seniors & Juniors

Submission deadline for forms, paper and abstract for the Westchester Science & Engineering Fair (WESEF)
All students with research results and a final paper by this date may enter www.wesef.org

Early February (Saturday) – Seniors & Juniors

Regional JSHS competition at John Jay High School: 8am - 4pm at John Jay High School, Cross River NY. Parents and family members are welcome for the awards ceremony in the afternoon. All participants Must attend the awards ceremony

Early February – Seniors & Juniors & Sophomores (that will be presenting at WESEF)

Paper submission deadline for ISWEEEP and Genius Olympiad competitions

  • Open to all students with a project in the areas of Environment, Ecology, Biodiversity, Energy, Environmental Engineering or related “go Green” topics. Recently, some medical projects have been accepted as well.

March 1 (Thursday) – Seniors & Juniors & Sophomores (that will be presenting at WESEF)

WESEF Practice night for all YHS-WESEF participants - 7pm in the YHS cafeteria
Parents, Alumni, Teachers, and Community members are requested as practice judges

 

March 7 & 8 (Wed. & Thurs.) – Seniors (that have won a spot to present at the state level from the regional competition at John Jay HS)

NY State-JSHS competition at SUNY Albany: 8:00am Wednesday to 5:00pm Thursday – Students will be taking a bus to and from the competition

 

 

 

March 17 (Saturday) – Seniors & Juniors

WESEF (www.wesef.org)
Sleepy Hollow High School, Route 9 Tarrytown NY.
9:00am – 4:30 pm AND 7:00pm-9:00pm for all students that are presenting their research
Public session 3pm-4:15 pm     Free time for dinner 5pm - 7pm     Awards ceremony 7pm-9pm
Important Note: WESEF 2017 will NOT be a conflict with the SAT

 

May 30 (Wednesday) – Seniors, Juniors & Sophomores

Yorktown HS Science Research Symposium

Begin at 5:30pm in the YHS cafeteria.  All current students MUST attend and will present their research via PowerPoint or Poster. Complimentary hot dinner buffet will be served

 

June 3 (Saturday) – Seniors & Sophomores

Somers Science Fair - Seniors are judges
1pm-6pm - Somers High School. Required for Sophomores and Seniors
All current sophomores must present their research via poster.
All current Seniors must be a judge from 1pm-6pm or spend the equivalent time during finals week for a written, essay based, final exam. 
Important Note: This is in the afternoon so it does NOT conflict with the SAT or SAT subject tests.

 

Middle of June – Seniors & Juniors & Sophomores (that have won a spot through WESEF or by submitting their research paper) (www.GeniusOlympiad.org)

Genius Olympiad Science Fair

  • Open to all students with a project in the areas of Environment, Ecology, Biodiversity, Energy, Environmental Engineering or related “go Green” topics. In addition, some Biological based projects are accepted.
  • Individual and Team (up to 3 students) research projects allowed.
  • Poster-board based competition
  • Fair is held in Oswego, NY during Regents week.
    • Regents exams may be taken at Oswego High School as long as your school principal and guidance counselor contact the administration at Oswego High School to register you for your exam beforehand.
